一、職稱怎么翻譯

由于中外文化迥然不同，有些職稱、職務的名稱及等級劃分不盡相同，有的雖然名稱相同，但內(nèi)涵卻有差異，因此在翻譯時一定要字斟句酌，使職稱、職位的翻譯準確規(guī)范。

對于職業(yè)和行政職務的翻譯是要盡量釆用國際化的標準，能借用的則借用，不能借用的要做具體處理。我國的許多職業(yè)和行政職務名稱在英語里都有國際上通用的功能等值詞可直接借用，如秘書（secretary)、推銷員（sales clerk)、經(jīng)理（manager)、董事長（chairman of board)等。

二、職稱、職務翻譯時需注意什么

對于帶“長”字、“總”字、“主”字的職務名稱，大體上都可以用chief，president，head，director，chairman，general等詞結(jié)合一些詞組，進行表達。

1、一些職位名稱帶“長”字，可選擇president，director，head等這類詞表示

（1）用president

例如：國家主席president；大學的校長president of a university；銀行的行長president of a bank；協(xié)會理事長president of an assodation；法庭的庭長president of a court等。

（2）用director

例如：研究所的所長director of an institute；醫(yī)院的院長director of a hospital；博物館館長director of a museum等。

（3）用head

例如：學院的院長head of a college/faculty；中小學校長head of a secondary/primary school；縣長head of a county；火車站的站長head of a station；護士長head nurse；廚師長head cook；總教練head coach等。

2、以“總……”表示的一些職位名稱，可選擇general，Chief等這類詞表示

（1）用general

例如：總書記general secretary；總代表general deputy；總經(jīng)理general manager；總代理general agent；總編輯general editor等。

（2）用chief

例如：總工程師chief engineer；總會計師chief accountant等。

3、帶有“主”字的一些職位名稱，可選擇dean，head，Chairman等這類詞表示

（1）用dean

例如：教務主任dean of studies；人事處主任dean of personnel

（2）用head

例如：外語系主任head of the foreign languages department；醫(yī)務部主任head of the department of medical as ministration；門診部主任head of the outpatient department；居委會主任head of the neighborhood committee等。

4、采用其他詞表示

例如：車間主任workshop manager；客座教授visiting professor；村長village head；稅務員tax collector；股票交易員stock dealer。
